Hunter does Daddy Biden. Republicans are outraged.
All the Trump kids do Daddy Trump, the Saudis, the New York and New Jersey housing markets, made government policy for the rest of us as the bigwigs in the White House and Republicans are as silent as Grant’s tomb.
I don't mind a little hypocrisy and a bit of “it's not what you know but who you know” as in ... maybe a distant cousin of a low-level state representative who needs a job as a sergeant standing out in the south parking lot at the Oklahoma State Capitol – regardless of the weather – because he is 84 and his wife is dying of cancer and she's 81. They have Medicare, of course, but nothing else; live in an old trailer near Lake Draper; the wife receives chemo treatments during her current diagnosis of deadly pancreatic cancer under the care of the Stephenson Cancer Center and personal attention from the best cancer doctor in all of Oklahoma, Robert Mannel, by name, who never asks how much his patients are worth; rather how can he help them at the scariest times of their lives. Dr. Mannel, by the way, could make 10 times what he does here in Oklahoma but won't move to the coasts because he helped create Stephenson, the only Level I, nationally-recognized cancer treatment center in our state.
Hunter is an addict and indebted dad to his former wife. He has marketed his family name to his shame and that of his dead military veteran brother, deceased real mother and deceased sister. He is charged with multiple felonies and will, at some time, pay the price for his behavior as directed by a court of law.
The marvelous, well-connected and rich Trump clan has manipulated every possible connection to their own personal benefit and bottom line. One of their mothers just died and I don't know much about where the other two women are except Melania, who birthed Barron, now 6'7", still puts up with Barron's daddy, the four-time indicted, manipulator of thousands out of their money to defend himself and his indefensible gang of 18 and they all do it with a straight face and practiced lines about 2020 being a stolen election when there is not a shred of evidence to substantiate their claims.
So I'm glad the beautiful and brilliant Ivanka had a great skiing weekend in Miami. My friends, the couple out at Lake Draper, had a big time, too. Went fishing over at nearby Lake Thunderbird and caught their dinner to go with some fried potatoes, a few onions and some salt and pepper and get this – the wife was able to cook because she had just seen Dr. Mannel last Friday who told her maybe a new experimental drug might help her get through to another legislative session next winter.
She wants to make it until then because she is so proud of her husband and the work he does, all decked out in his green sergeant's jacket, assigned in part to keep lawmakers safe and the public informed on where they can and cannot park and ,some days, when he comes home and tells her how the lawmakers spent their day talking about Bigfoot and other mighty matters, she feels blessed about the man she married 61 years ago, with a single goal now of seeing 62.
I read and hear we're all God's children. I just don't know why He makes it so hard on some and so easy on a bunch of others, but there is one thing I do know … and that is, believe it or not, I'd rather have leftover catfish sandwiches with my friends at Draper Lake than go skiing with Ivanka in Miami or swap stories with Hunter in Delaware.
And most of you would, too, because in truth we're a lot closer in life to my friends here in Oklahoma than the rich, famous and well connected wherever they are.
Here, let me pop you a Coors and let's talk about how the Sooners are going to deep six the smarty pants from SMU this coming Saturday and please pass some of that great homemade tartar sauce the little lady made for this special occasion.
Now that's something to be thankful for.
I’ve thought often about the hypocrisy you describe. Life simply isn’t fair.
But one of these days, I’m hoping karma’s gonna even things out!
