Whose Party?
Who is the GOP working for? Despite their two main talking points, the border and the deficit, it isn’t the American people.
When asylum seekers swamp the underfunded system, they blame Biden as they turn down his funding request. They’re taking orders from the GOP frontrunner, and he doesn’t want the problem fixed.
Oklahoma GOP, not to be outdone, censured Sen. James Lankford last weekend for negotiating a bipartisan border deal.
Despite differences in opinion, Lankford deserves applause for doing the right thing. Too bad the right thing is the wrong thing to do if you’re a Republican.
The deficit comes up at every campaign stop, but they support tax cuts and refuse to fund the IRS. I wonder whose idea it was to protect rich people who cheat on their taxes.
Who benefits when Congress refuses to supply aid to Ukraine? They may not care if Putin’s army rolls over Ukraine, but will they care if it rolls into a NATO country, and it’s our young men and women whose lives are on the line?
Guess who thinks we should drop out of NATO. Yep, the same guy who pulled us out of the Iran agreement. How is that decision working for us?
If they’re worried about how Ukraine is using the funds, maybe someone can remind them that most of that money stays right here at home. I grew up in Pittsburg County. My mother, my neighbors, and several relatives worked at the Ammunition Depot. Maybe Oklahoma’s delegation should ask the people at the depot if they support funding for Ukraine.
So, will the GOP follow orders and shut down everything to make the Biden Administration look bad? That might be hard to do. Even the Wall Street Journal is quite pleased with the Biden economy.
As inflation comes down, the GOP’s muddled master complains about inflation from one side of his mouth, then out the other side says that the stock market is reaching record highs because investors think he’s going to be the next president. So, is the economy bad, or is it good? And if it’s good, can he have the credit?
Meanwhile, nothing gets done. And when it does get done, somebody gets censured.
And one last point: If you’re working for Mr. Trump, this isn’t about you. You are just the tools.
