In the wake of widespread coverage and criticism, OSDE has modified their solicitation requirements. The non-scriptural content (Pledge of Allegiance, etc.) no longer have to appear in the bible itself. They can be provided separately as part of a package deal, allowing for other bible publishers to consider making bids, as long as they serve these historical documents as a side dish to the bible's main course.
It is unknown to me whether this change is based on legal advice or just a quick CYA scramble to mask Walters' true intentions.
As I recall from the 80's, there were a lot of rank-and-file Democrats, certainly where I lived, who said openly that Senate Democrats should be tried for treason for their treatment of Ollie North and the Reagan administration.
Those among the rank-and-file who communicated their disgust, myself included, went completely unheeded. It was a foreshadowing of the current "Lindsey Graham syndrome" among Republicans in Congress supporting Trump.

Send him home! Bibles for Church not needed for public schools.
No public money for private schools or churches.
Government money for government operations.
State Purchasing needs be questioned about diverting money to churches, all religious organizations!
