SB484 (which would make it against state law for municipalities to fund homeless shelters or other homeless services in their communities) has been assigned to the Senate Local and County Government Committee. This is bad news / good opportunity.
The bad news: it didn't die on the vine. It will be heard in the Senate Local and County Government Committee. They could kill it, amend it, or pass it so it goes to the full senate for a vote (and to the House).
The good opportunity: with the committee assignment, we know who to reach out to and demand they squash this bill like a bug. Committee members to target with letters, emails, phone calls, and/or office visits are listed here: https://oksenate.gov/committees/general-government
ACTION: contact ALL of these state senators. If one of them represents your district of residence, emphasize that in your communications.
Do we know what committee it has been assigned to? I would like to send the committee members an email. (I know I could look it up but thought others might like to see which committee too)

I don’t believe any bills have been assigned to committee yet for the upcoming session. First Reading of SB484 is scheduled for 2/3/25.
Thanks for the back story that other accounts left out.
